One of these has popped onto my radar in my search for a entry level road bike, which currently has mostly focused on the Spesh Allez. I notice they have different sizing practice to most makes and wondered what people are riding.

I am thinking I could get away with a M at 5'7 / 32" inside leg, and planning on trying one out before the weekend, but figured I would ask those who have them first 8)

Only prob might be I am the wrong proportioned 5'7 to fit on the chart Giant have, as I have long legs rather than long torso.

.....next up there will probably be a thread regarding Boardmans

I have a Defy 3 from 2009, am 5'10 and have inside leg of around 80 cm (31.5inches) and I am on Medium. There will be a local dealer somewhere, try for size on any Defy; the model I tried was the advanced but I believe the sizes are the same.

I am 5'9 and have a medium, but could have got a small....I think a small would likely fit you better because the M has quite a stretch to the hoods.

Only real way to tell is to give it a go, but do be aware of the length issue, raising a seat is easier, making the 'cockpit' shorter means extra bits.

Well headed down to the Giant Store in Rutland today and after trying a small and a medium they advised a medium. Had a short ride on the carbon fibre version and seemed ok. The small seemed a bit squished and with the bars just tipped back slightly the medium seemed ok.

I guess I will grow into the position as well, as still feels weird after the hardtail.

If the Defy sizing is anything like the 2008 Bowery, you'll want Small otherwise you'll be stretched out quite a bit. Try both and see would be the ideal option.

Just had a quick squizz at the '08 Bowery geo and it looks like it has a longer T/T than the Defy.

As mentioned above, have tried both and seemed to go with the m. I am now of course doubting myself and thinking I might have to haul my ass back to the shop for another round of testing
