Hi folks,

I am new to cycling and looking to buy a new hybrid, when the 2010 range comes out for a manufacturer do retailers normally drop the price of the 2009 range?

cheers,

In the past, yes, but at the moment bikes are selling fast, so there may not be any 09 bikes of the one you want left, or they manufactures may not do any discounts to clear old stock.

Thats what usually happens. I am in the same boat as you, new to road cycling and looking for a new bike. I was toying with the idea of a 2010 model but have decided to wait for the 09 models to drop in price. Lots of retailers have sales on now, it depends what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

As an example, I have been looking at a Scott Speedster S50 road bike of which the 09 model retails at £749. The price has now dropped to £599.

Have a look at the link below for some examples. Hope this helps.
