Hey,

If I buy these 4 year old 2008 Mavic Aksium Race Wheels from ebay for cheap e.g <£15
is it a bargin?

Is it a matter of taking them to my LBS to make true and maybe even put some new bearings in and re-grease?

If so, will my shimano 8 speed cassette fit?

Please advise please, thank you please. (Im on a super tight budget)

At less than £15 it's got to be worth it! Does the description say they're out of true?

"Used for 4+ years, summer and winter riding , some wear on rims but plenty left, some scratching and marks as you might expect from the use. Rear wheel has oxodised a little round the valve hole and a couple of the spokes, but has cleaned up well and have blasted with muc-off bike spray. Front very tidy. Wheels are true and round, with no major damage. Shimano free hub, 9 and 10 speed compatible (spacers included). Skewers/quick releases bot work fine but looking pretty tired!"

A 10 sp cassette is 37.2mm wide an 8 sp is 35.4mm difference of 1.8mm or an 8mm sprocket. So you may need a spacer, I dont have enough knowledge yet to comment further, I have just ordered some RS10's and need to fit a 7sp to it, so I may have to play around with spacers ect...
