2007 Brompton M3L - Fully Restored
Classic 2007 Mk 4 Brompton in pure orange and satin black, I have lavished a small fortune on it. The bike has been stripped right back to a bare frame and has been subject to a complete nut and bolt restoration, I dread to think how many hours this has taken!
The 2007 Mk4 Brompton featured the slightly longer wheelbase, and for the first time featured decent dual pivot brakes.
Every single part has either been carefully cleaned, restored or replaced. The bill for replacement parts alone was over £400, so I haven’t done this for the money!
Wheel bearings and headset have all been stripped, serviced and rebuilt with new bearings. (fortunately, the original FAG bottom bracket was found to be in excellent condition) Inner and outer cables, chain, sprocket and chain tensioner have all been replaced, together with a myriad of other replacement parts.
The frame, forks and handlebar stem have been deep cleaned, polished and carefully touched in where needed. As it is completely original, although it is in exceptional condition, it does have some minor marks and patina you would expect from an 18 year old Brompton, the front mudguard is also original and although in excellent condition with no cracks, does have some patina (the rear mudguard blade is brand new) The rear triangle has had a bare metal respray in the correct satin black and has been refitted with a new hinge pin. The seat sleeve and both other hinge pins were inspected, found to be in excellent condition and did not require replacement. Wheels are fitted with a good pair of matching Schwalbe Marathon tyres.
Although the bike is still mainly in its standard 2007 specification, I have made a couple of minor improvements during the build, just to sympathetically update it and make it easier to live with. I fitted the essential retrofit frame clip which was not standard on the 2007 model (this stops your Brompton folding in two when you lift it up), a Brommiemods steel chain guard (a big improvement on the original flimsy plastic version) I have also fitted the slightly later, improved brake levers, genuine pre 2012 Brompton handlebar grips, and a brand new Brompton saddle with a genuine Pentaclip. I have also sourced the slightly later and very rare LHS crank arm which stops the pedal damaging the frame when folded, and some additional frame protection is also fitted.
Since completion, it has only done very minimal dry miles, just a couple of quick shake downs, to make sure it is 100% ready for sale. In summary, a sensibly priced, fully sorted, updated and characterful Brompton in a great colour scheme, ready to ride away and enjoy for many years!
£675 plus postage £20
If you decide to have it posted, it will be delivered safely in a genuine Brompton box, I am also happy for the buyer to collect from Oxford.
