2002ish Ultegra - what's it worth?

I'm negotiating for an aluminium framed, Ultegra equipped Cannondale and I'm not sure what's realistic. The bike shows a reasonable amount of wear and what worries me is that if one of the shifters fails, a cheap bike could become a very expensive one.

What's the lifespan of these things like? I've ridden the bike and everything seems to work but it's hard to know. Any advice?

Very much depends upon how well it's looked after......

Can you try it out, does it shift well...

I have 04 Ultegra.

I found the brake levers chattered over rough tarmac.
My cure was some self adhesive rubber cushioning about 1 mm thick in the lever closure.

Other than that, fine piece of kit.
