That's right, just did 20 miles on the Boardman. Was quite a pleasant ride (apart from the shite roads).

So that's one distance I can scratch off. Will be doing it again soon to see if I can get it under the hour.

If you don't tho. don't beat yourself up about it.... as you have already noticed shite road conditions plus inclement cllimate = be happy with what you have and to hold .. and promise yourself better performance in the long long long distance of spring in 4 long long long months to go..

Try going upto Billinge Hill (the back way - easy way) via St Helens, Billinge & around to Crank thats a good tester ! - the last inclination up burrows lane is a nice drag... xx(

If you want exact route - PM me.

Funny you should say that, I put that route in bikehike the other day. It'll probably be my next run when I am off work next week. I went down Burrows lane today, down Catchdale moss onto the East Lancs, down Knowsley Lane, up through Prescot, straight down Warrington road, turned off at Mill Lane in Rainhill, Down Hall Lane (at 31mph, weeeeeeeeeee) then up Cronton Road, Fox bank lane, Cumber lane, dragon lane and up Cross Lane and home.

Fairly good route - keeps the roads shortish esp. at this time of year...as its better to stay away from the dual-carriage-ways in winter.

From my area by huyton quarry - and doing the back way to st helens & the back way up Billinge Hill Crank etc...: thats a 25ml'er to me...about 1hr.45min..its soo easy up Crank, Upholland way to make it longer, if you want to and they're quite quiet roads...too xx(
