2 more cyclists killed

Have just heard on local news 2 cyclists killed near Cockermouth. Both in their twenties, a coach driver has been arrested. R.I.P

That bit of road is nasty because it's bumpy with lots of blind summits, but an NSL road and people tend to treat it as a motorway. I usually wouldn't ride along it but I'd imagine they were sticking to the main road because of the ice.

Yes I know that road well and avoid cycling on it but in the present conditions it may have been the only route open to cyclists. There seems to have been a spate of cyclists related road incidents in Cumbria this year. My heart goes out to the familys of the cylists.

Silly overtakes are common and the road goes over crests and round bends more frequently than many drivers think.

Ah yes very tragic.

I've ridden bits of that road too. Folks speed on it all the time - nutters going far too fast. IIRC lots of motons are killed on it too.
