1st ride

Ok went out on my first ride in a long time this morning after picking up a new bike yesterday. I went down to Pedalon near Newbury and picked up this 2013 Giant Defy Composite 2 with full Ultegra. The bike and components are far better than I am but it was in the sale at a great price:


Anyway, went out on my first ride in about a year this morning and managed to put in 12 miles at an ave speed of 15.5 mph which took me just under 50 mins. To be honest if I hadn't ridden past my street at the 12 mile mark I could have pushed a bit further but to be honest sitting on a road bike saddle again for the 1st time in over a year was starting to take it's toll so decided best to leave it until tomorrow

Nice bike Blimey 15.5mph for your first ride. It has taken me a year of hard work and I still only manage that on a good day!

It does take a little time to get use to the seat, make sure you wear padded shorts, which does make things a bit better.

Or if you prefer having some sensation left in your genitals post-ride - don't!

(The saddle looks about right to me, but if I were going to adjust it, I'd move the nose down a degree, not up!)
