1st proper ride this morning on my new bike. I was looking forward to it all yesterday. It went really well did just under 9 miles. My only snag was numb genitals when i got back
Cant say I noticed it when I did a test ride the other day but it was only 3 or 4 miles.
This morning before setting off I changed the seat height as per the book. So when the peddle was at its lower point my leg was nearly straight maybe it was that. High light of the ride was a chap coming up the other side of the dual carrage way on his road bike and gave me a big wave. That made my day top man :rain:

and finally on the dual carrage way should I stick on the edge of the lane. Or ride on the spare bit of tarmac between the edge of the lane and the hedge which is what I did. Its about 4 feet and for the most part clear other than a big spanner, Fly wheel cranking handle and a sun roof off a caravan

Avoiding the dual carriage ways is probably your best option: it makes for a much more pleasant ride!

Taking the saddle problem first could be due to not being used to the bike or saddle pitch could need adjusting might be the nose is to high.

The second point of riding on dual carriage ways,I ride quite alot on the A48 between swansea and carmarthen, not he busiest but busy enough I always stay on the carriage way simply because of the punctures Ive picked up beyond the white line.

Yea, I know what you mean about the punctures! riding on the carridge way between LLanteg and Kilgetty I picked up a few sharp objects in my tyres on more than one trip. Now I ride the other side of the line. no more punctures ;-)

Ah nose too high didnt even think of that line of adjustment. That would make sense.
I also like the carrage way for my running because I have nice stretches of road to get stuck into and its easy to mark the distances. The hills are nice climbs rather than dam near vertical like some of the back roads around here
