Well I had hoped it would have been a little longer before it happened but after a month of starting to cycle, I have this lunch time had my first off and visit to A&E for butterfly stiches in my chin.

Typical experience of a car driver simply pulling out without looking, I hit my brakes, ride in to a pot-hole and over the top of the handlebars. Yes you've probably guessed it, car driver did not look, neither did he stop. Me I pick my self up dust my self down, and carry on, only to get home for my wife to insist I need to go to A&E, and the rest is history as we speak.

Anyway, I have broken my duck, I just hope it is a long time before my next.

Hope you're ok Boy. Get straight back on your bike again and put it behind you.

I had a car pull right across of me into a junction last week. I managed to avoid it without incident, but it's v scary!

Sorry to hear about your little mishap but like steve H say's get straight back on and put it behind you. I got knocked off last November, the driver admitted it was his fault but I'm still waiting for my compo. So just be careful and look out for the buggers ..

Agree with the others, if possible, get straight back out there, and yep, fingers crossed it's the first and last for a while.

I also had my 1st off last friday, after 3 months of commuting. Same as you, a car pulled across me.

I spent a week on the train whilst my ankle got better, cant wait to cycle to work tomorrow, I have put it down to bad luck and want to get back on the bike asap.

Hopefully I can go a bit longer that 3 months before my next incident.

Beebo,

Glad to hear you are on the mend and as you say hopefully you will not have any more accidents for some time to come, although I do think they are an inevitable consequence of riding.

Previously I have ridden motorbikes and learned to ride defensively which I feel I am going to have to do on my bike as well.

Ouch, sorry to read about your and Beebo's off's.

Previously I have ridden motorbikes and learned to ride defensively which I feel I am going to have to do on my bike as well.

Most certainly, picking up a copy of the book Cyclecraft may help.
