1st Near Miss Yesterday

well yesterday i nearly had my first accident, just finishing a ride went to turn right at the top of my street and a taxi was waiting to pull out, i indicated and knew there was nothing behind me and just as i started to turn the taxi decided to pull out right in front of me, i braked back wheel skidded and i stopped just in time if i was going any faster i would have been straight over the bonnet, he had looked up the road and hadnt even noticed i was there. i gave him the odd verbal and he just looked at me and drove away this was only my 5th ride so i am quite pleased this has happened because it just helps you to be a little more alert

Same thing happened to me on a mini-roundabout when an old dear in a Micra pulled straight out in front of me while looking straight at me. Luckily I was covering the brakes in anticipation.

I think you'll find that will be the first of many such incidents - glad you are ok.

Certainly gets you to adopt defensive (not aggressive) riding practices though.

had more than 1 near miss myself but learned quickly when i was riding a bike with an engine and to the cost of my right knee SOME car drivers not all consider roads to be domain of vans and cars and have a blind spot where bikes of any kind are concerned the best offence to this is still very much defence
