for the past 2 - 3 years i have re assembled and repaired numberous 80's onward racer and town bikes , used them all on daily commute for a while doing testing miles before then selling them on .

but have always wanted to take a bike back to bare frame and start a fresh and have 1 built one to the end , so today my latest project turned up , its a mid 80's Geoffrey Butler frame set that is going to be sandblasted back and then off to the refinishers to be powder coated ( not sure what colour ) .

once back it will be down tp lbs for all new brgs etc etc , then back home for finishing off in what ever spec i decide on ,

will post some pics as we go along and show the stages

Sounds like fun. It's incredibly satisfying to build a frame up from scratch; I would love do it a lot more , but I've not the time.

Be sure to post the pictures.

parts are starting to arrive yesterday a set of brakes arrived , paid for a set of bullhorn/ aero bars so should be next week , sorted out some wheels from spares in garage not sure re tyres yet tho . just got sort saddle stem out but cant do that till frame back as forgot to measure geussing 27.2 mm if so bonza got a couple of spare ones .

biggest issue at mo is trying to decide on colour tempted to go pale violet colour but not sure

it's very satisfying, i've completely upgraded the components on one bike and then built up another old frame with the spare bits. not very economical compared to buying a complete old bike off ebay, but fun nonetheless…
