1st Foray to Richmond Park

1st rides around Richmond park this weekend since getting my Specialised hybrid a few weeks back.What a different world this is! Lots and lots of quality machines flying past me, everyone lycra'd up looking very fit and lean, and then there's me in my shorts, tshirt and trainers I had great fun, that hill up from Kingston Gate towards Robin Hood Gate is "special" to say the least. Brilliant coming down the other side though, what a rush! Anyone else use this as a regular haunt?

Hi stan - i woudnt say i use it as a regular haunt but i regularly use it on route between north west london and south london. I like to see all the ring necked parakkeets and the red kites overhead and of course the deer.

I had great fun, that hill up from Kingston Gate towards Robin Hood Gate is "special" to say the least. Brilliant coming down the other side though, what a rush!

If you haven't tried going clockwise, going up Broomfield Hill (aka Heart Attack Hill) from Robin Hood Gate towards Kingston Gate with road ratios is an interesting challenge too!

Be aware that Richmond Park is one of the few places in the UK where the speed limits apply to cyclists as well as motor vehicles so keep that rush in check!

Yes, and last time I was there I did actually see a police car pull over some cyclists. Not sure if it was for speeding but they were defiantly getting a talking to.

I love Richmond park, the slow moving cars are bloody annoying though! :-)

My Daughter and her boyfriend cycle in Richmond Park on weekends! I know they were there yesterday (Sunday) morning. He has a custom build carbon bike and my daughter rides an Allez 18, they are club riders with one of the London Clubs. Beautiful area.
