Hello all
I have a 1980s Pearson racing bike, which is a lovely machine, but in need of a proper overhaul/servicing by someone who knows what they are doing. Can anyone recommend such a place/person in the Oxford area?
Many thanks!

TBH if it is a realy nice machine I would be inclined to take it to Pearsons, as far as I know still a family business.

Why? A bike is a bike (especially when it's an '80s racer). The kind of general overhaul the OP is after could be done by any competent LBS. (Or indeed by him/herself, with a few basic tools and a little perusal of bicycletutor.com.)

Any compotent LBS will still have access to suppliers of 80’s style equipment, taper bottom brackets for example. I worked at Pearson's for fifteen years, from 1986-2001, if bought during my time it wouldn't have been anything unusal spec' wise so again a competent LBS will be able to help. Interms of Spec' during my time I used Dave Yates to build the Reynolds frames, although we had some Columbus frames bought from Italy but to British spec', these were unpainted, displayed as such so that customers could chose their own colour. Early 80's the frames were built by Briden Cycles and a few by Cliff Shrubb (before he worked at Pearson's) or Roberts.

I'm sure Pearson's would love to see you though, they may be able to tell you more about it's history, by all means show me sso close up pictures and I will.
