This project has been ongoing for over 5 years, mostly languishing in my workshop. Recently spurred on by other projects it was about time to get this fella completed, to what you see here now. Still work to do, but this machine is well on its way to be ridden again. It largely original bar the usual consumables... Its a big 25" frame, 12 speeds, Suntour mechs and changers, Reynolds tubing etc... Certainly of the tidiest Pro-Ams you'll see around!

Very nice, though I'd have set the brake levers a bit lower ( Old Skool me never have ridden 'on the hoods'.)

Carried out more work today, cleaning and adjusting things. Rear wheel will needs truing as it's a little out. The front changer needed a cable stop so I managed to find one after routing around, had to pack it since its slightly larger diameter clamp... The bike has some nice detailing and the Suntour kit is good quality. I like the lever's ratchet system very much, not indexed but smooth and assured in action. Just need to dig out some pedals and clips now...

Its a 25" frame but I can ride it quite easily, feel light and responsive, good on those hills now too. 531 main tubes mean the frame is pretty light. The black alloy wheels give it a more modern look in my eyes. This is my 'newest' Carlton at only 36 years old.

I love the pro am, that's my sort of machine. I nearly bought one straight from the factory in 1980, when I worked for a Raleigh-owned firm, but a Criterium came up that was too good a price to miss so I got that instead!

It certainly is tidy - the paintwork seems to've suffered on most of the ones I've come across
