1970 Walvale

Hi All,
This Walvale International has just come out of a local shed.
I don't know a huge amount these bikes.
The chap who had it claimed to have bought it new aged 16 in 1970.
The frame number is 2581489
Does this info tally up?
It's a shame that the frame isn't cosmetically better but it's all there.
Not sure what to do with it next though. Do Walvale have a following? The frame seems nicely made.
Any help would be gratefully received,

Not really aware of Walvale but it's a real time capsule isn't it.
Looks like you a penchant for these old bikes.

Walvale Cycles were in the Orell Park, Liverpool. The shop is now called Hobson's cycles, but I doubt there is any connection

Thet used to hand-build frames as well as buying them in (Holdsworth maybe). Other than that I don't know much - they were in business at the same time as Harry Quinn and Quinn Bros (R&J Quinn) in Liverpool and were, I think, as highly thought of as these others - Pete Matthews was the frame builder, if I remember correctly. I cannot help with frame numbers - sorry

Walvale is short for Walton Vale - a shopping street in north Liverpool

A rebadged Carlton perhaps? It would be good to get the frame number checked.
I'm not really sure what to do with it, as I think the Eroica folk would want something swankier and / or shinier, so I'm not sure there's a market for it. It'll need some time and energy spent on it though.
