1960 Sun solo?

Hi all. New to all this so was hoping to get some help validating the year of my bike. After some research found that the serial number '59239' which was underneath the bottom bracket dates to early 1960. Seems to be all the information I could find. Was looking to restore to as close to original and trying to find a full spec list as some parts slightly newer. Pictures can be posted soon. I look forward to any replies.

Thank you for your reply. Was a little dubious of 1960. Dating old bikes seems to be harder than you would think. Either way looking forward to rebuilding it and getting it back on the road

Yep, the under BB cable guides place it somewhere starting the early 80's. Should be fun

There a a couple of rather worn looking Sun Solos around Norwich. As a schoolboy in the late sixties, my pal and his brother each had a Sun Snipe Plus, which to my eyes were rather pucca bikes to have. Their dad did run his own business, but were they as good as I thought - ?

Bitd lots of Sun bikes came with a lot of chrome, a sure measure of class as it was expensive

I enjoy the all chrome sun I have, it's shiny shiny shiny

Drawback of all that chrome was it was an absolute PIG to keep shiny; especially if you were obliged to use your bike year round - ! I know, 'cos I had a Rudge Clubman which had chromed fork ends and seat / chainstay ends as well as the usual other chromy bits.
