Anyone know who sells them? It's a 10 year old bike and I need a new stem that brings the bars a bit higher and closer as I'm not as flexible as I used to be! There all 1 and 1/8 now.

I think a lot of them come with a packing shim for 1".

Ignore me then. I bought a perfect long necked 1" quill stem for my old hard-tailed MTB which did the same trick. but obviously of no use to you.

If we are talking about your Bear Valley, I put a pair of cheap bouncy forks on mine which has lifted things up quite nicely without needing the stem.

I thought about this before but the advice was it'll bugger up the ride, has it?

Anyway's for the type of off-roading I do, a rigid is just fine, though some of the made trails these days are not doable on a rigid. What I was thinking of doing is converting it to a sort of trekking/commuter bike and buying myself a new hard tail at some point.

Smeggers, I'd love to see a picture and know which forks you fitted. I'm not sure I'd go down that route but.......

I've still got the original Velociraptor tyres on mine (they were off for several years whilst I had slicks on).
