Hi - I've acquired a bike from that strange period in the late 80s / early 90s where some bikes had 1 1/8" head tubes but threaded forks.
The quill stem that is with the bike has a clamp that it too wide for me to jiggle the bars I want to use onto it, so I am after another.
My ideal solution would be a quill adapter, so that what sticks out the head tube is just a tube, to which I can attach any stem, so I have some future flexibility if I want to change. However, the only adapters I can find are to convert 1" threaded to 1 1/8" ahead. Is there a 1 1/8" quill to 1 1/8" ahead adapter any of you know of?
I can find various 1 1/8" quill stems which might work, although a lot of them are adjustable, which I'm not that keen on (for weight, aesthetics and potential-for-looseness reasons)
Thanks in advance.
