Race Across America 2014 (RAAM)

So once again the annual Race Across America (RAAM) has just started.

The solo riders left Onceanside California yesterday, with the leader, (2013 winner) Christopher Strasser, reaching the first checkpoint at 286 miles in 12hours 3 minutes at an average of 23.76mph. (his finishing time for the completing the race in 2013 was 2962 miles in 7days 11 hours)

The teams all start tomorrow. Including a team featuring Pippa Middleton... yup THAT Pippa Middleton. And good on her, it's a tough challenge.

Leith Hill is 965ft if I remember rightly Wouldn't even register on that chart
