Liverpool Loop Line- Warbreck Moor tunnel closure

Hi All,

Not too sure how many other people commute along the loop line path, but today whilst riding into work, I got to the bit of the path which has got a gate to Archbishop Beck school, to be confronted with a fence and a sign saying something about the following tunnel being temporarily closed due to asbestos.

Unfortunately it doesn't give any indication as to how long it will be closed for, but just be ware that if you are heading in the Aintree direction from West Derby, you'll have to leave the loop line path at the Grace Road junction, and rejoin probably at Helsby Road or Bull Lane (Not sure where the other end of the closure is, as I usually come off at Helsby anyway)

The bit I've highlighted in red on this map is definitely closed:

Hi irw,

The tunnel in question is closed due to asbestos being found in the roof of the tunnel! There is a problem with a property above and upon trying to rectify the problem asbestos has been found, At the Liverpool cycle forum Sustrans said it would be closed for approximately 3 months.

Hi, I went there today and it's still closed 6 months later?? How can I find out when it will be open again? Thanks.

Is there any further news on this closure and expected opening dates as i rode to it on Sunday and it's still blocked.
