Hi,

Has anyone any knowledge of cycle route 7 just north of Aberfoyle? I will be doing a short cycle tour from Glasgow area to Aviemore next month on a fully loaded bike (700x32) tyres. I saw a sign online that the off road section between Aberfoyle and Loch Venachar could be tricky for my type of setup. Anyone completed this section and could share their thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I've done it on a mountain bike and a gravel bike about the same size tyres as you have. No problem, it's mostly forest roads. The climb out of Aberfoyle is steep but not for long. Alone the first part of Loch Venachar it narrows to single track but it flat and a gravel track.

I did it on the gravel bike last summer, its quite steep but doable and good scenery.

Edit: According to Strava you've 1.85miles at 5.8% to the top of N7 and IIRC there's nothing tricky but it'll be hard work and you'll need good brakes on the far side.
